Deets: This Lunar New Year, Flushing Town Hall will present a month-long celebration filled with vibrant programming from Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese, and Tibetan traditions to usher in the Year of the Snake.
This year’s programming highlights include a shadow puppetry exhibition and performance by Queens-based Chinese Theatre Works, a family sing-along performance by Elena Moon Park & Friends, and concerts blending global musical traditions including:
A Mini-Global Mashup concert: “DoYeon Kim (on the Gayageum) meets Cooper-Moore (on the Diddley-bow)” with accompanist Satoshi Takeishi;
"Red Gate: Pauline Benton & Chinese Shadow Theatre in America,” a shadow puppetry exhibition by the Queens-based Chinese Theatre Works;
“Rabbit Days and Dumplings,” a family musical show by Elena Moon Park and Friends;
“Hao Bang Ah! Snake!,” a Chinese shadow puppetry performance by Chinese Theatre Works; and, Sangjaru, the renowned Korean folk fusion band, in concert.
