Deets: A whopping $26B of New York state’s earned wages are held up every two weeks in the pay cycle – enough to buy every single New York state resident 203 bagels with schmear and a large coffee. With 35% of New Yorkers unable to cover an unexpected $500 expense, according to a survey conducted by Chime, people need access to their money and they need it now! So why do we have to wait?

Chime is declaring the wait for pay day over by kicking off its “America’s Big Unlock” tour in Flatiron Plaza North on September 1 before embarking on a cross-country road trip. “America’s Big Unlock” features a massive vault, the size of a semi-truck, representing the jaw-dropping $340,000,000,000 locked up in our national pay cycle every two weeks. 

This Labor Day weekend, New Yorkers will have the opportunity to unlock that “payday feeling,” for a chance to win a $500 cash giveaway! All they’ll have to do is scan the QR code on the vault and answer one simple and easy question to sign up to to receive the payout. Winners will be announced by the end of the tour on September 16.
