Deets: The iconic Ellen’s Stardust Diner in Times Square will celebrate Pride Month by partnering with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the philanthropic heart of Broadway and the nonprofit that helps provide groceries and medication, healthcare, and hope to those in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Washington, D.C., affected by HIV/AIDS and other debilitating illnesses – with an event on Thursday, 6/1 at 11 am to kick off Pride Month, featuring special performances and an official cutting of a large rainbow cake.
Starting June 1 to 30, 2023, a portion of proceeds of Ellen’s rainbow cake ($12), rainbow milkshake ($18), and rainbow merchandise ($35) purchased at the Diner will go to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, in addition to Ellen’s Stardust Diner own contribution to the nonprofit. According to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, $5 provides a full bag of groceries; $10 provides an HIV test at a health clinic; $25 allows someone in need to visit a doctor; and $50 provides 25 warm, nutritious meals.
Throughout the month of June, diners will also be able to experience a variety of “Starduster” performances from A Chorus Line, Rent, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Falsettos, Avenue Q, Kinky Boots, The Color Purple, A Strange Loop, and many other Broadway hits. Many of the “Stardusters” at Ellen’s have gone onto Off-Broadway, Broadway and national touring Broadway productions, including Marla Mindelle (of Titanique), Alex Joseph Grayson (of Parade, Bronx Tale, Into the Woods, etc.), Alysha Umphress (American Idiot, On A Clear Day), Brandi Chavonne Massey (of Wicked, Jekyll and Hyde, The Color Purple, etc.), and many others.
Hint for the Average Socialite: Ellen’s Stardust Diner is open 365 days a year from 7 am to midnight every day.
