Deets: Following the success of its beloved Long Island location, the Kerber’s Farm brand is expanding with its second retail store. In line with the company’s mission of preservation and restoration, the new location features reclaimed wooden beams, a 1930’s cast-iron porcelain farm sink, salvaged tiles, vintage white Carrera marble tabletops and traditional wainscotting.
The 1400 square foot store is nestled amongst Manhattan’s “food royalty” including Murray’s Cheese Shop, Faicco’s Italian Specialties, Ottomanelli & Sons, John’s Pizzeria, Tacombi, and Rocco’s Bakery.
The new location features the farm’s signature homemade items from farm-fresh recipes found its namesake Rizzoli cookbook such as delicious homemade baked goods including pies, scones, muffins, and its delectable cheddar buttermilk biscuit egg sandwiches that have made Kerber’s famous. In the café, guests can enjoy the freshly brewed coffee, lunch sandwiches, savory pie pockets, mac & cheese pies, as well as garden vegetables and eggs from the Long Island farm. The store will also offer its handmade candles, honey, homemade jams and gift crates.
As part of the farm’s launch in New York City, you may spot its vintage Land Rover parked out front of the store offering free samples of pies, brownies, cookies and hot chocolate.
About Kerber’s Farm
Kerber’s Farm is a historic farm and market that dates to the 1940’s located in Huntington, Long Island, New York. The farm and market have been a popular destination for generations for its tasty baked goods, organic vegetables, fresh eggs, and honey.
In 2013, the farm and store were abandoned and slated for development until author and entrepreneur Nick Voulgaris III made it a passion to save the farm he frequented as a child. Voulgaris, who has had a long career in hospitality and preservation, was able to purchase the property and restored the gardens, reopened the store, and cultivated a loyal following. The property, which has 12 beehives, vegetable gardens, laying hens, ducks, pigs, sheep and goats, is open to the public, and offers several AirBnB residences for visitors to spend the night.
Kerber’s Farm also opened a farming education school at the Long Island farm to teach students the importance of sustainability, organic farming, and healthy eating habits.
