Deets: Orange wines are the coolest wines right now – perfect for Fall! – and the best place to try these unique and trending wines is Orange Glou Wine Fair on Nov. 3 in NYC, where attendees can taste over 100 orange wines from Austria, Italy and Slovenia, home to some of the best orange wines in the world. Launched by orange wine expert Doreen Winkler, natural wine sommelier and founder of Orange Glou wine club and store in NYC, it is America’s only wine fair dedicated exclusively to orange wines. For a more intimate tasting experience with winemakers, the first Orange Glou Wine Fair After Party will take place in the evening.
Soaring in popularity right now, orange (aka skin-contact) wines are made with white grapes but like reds with the grape skins left in contact with the juice for a period of time after pressing. The Orange Glou Fair will showcase a wide range of these wines, from fresh and light to textured and dark amber in color, including some exclusive bottlings available in the US for the first time. About 90% of wines this year are also ‘zero-zero’ – no added sulfites or yeasts (the rest may have minimal sulfites added). Attendees can meet natural wine producers and learn about maceration styles, plus take home an Orange Glou tasting glass.
Hint for the Average Socialite: Tickets are $65 for the 11am-2:30pm session; $75 for the 3pm-6pm session and include a signature Orange Glou wine glass to keep.
