Deets: Held annually the Sunday after Labor Day, the festival serves as a celebration of Italian cuisine, culture, and entertainment on Arthur Avenue between East 187th Street and Crescent Avenue in the Bronx.
Ferragosto originated in 18 B.C. as an ancient Roman festival that recognized the end of the harvest season and enjoying the fruits of those labors. Over 25 years ago, the merchants of the neighborhood brought the festival to the Bronx in the fall as a day to highlight all the area has to offer as a historic and culinary center. Ferragosto is an opportunity to enjoy a fun, community focused day and experience first-hand the neighborhood’s old-world charm and Italian traditions.
This year’s participating local small businesses include Artuso Pastry Shop, Calabria Pork Store, Cerini Coffee & Gifts, DUA Gourmet Market, Enzo’s of Arthur Avenue, La Casa Grande Cigars, Marie’s Fresh Roasted Coffee & Gifts, Mario’s Restaurant, Pasquale’s Rigoletto Restaurant, Teitel Brothers, Zero Otto Nove, and many more.
