Deets: For 35 years, the Luskin Orthopaedic Institute for Children (LuskinOIC) has transformed the holiday season for thousands of children and their families through its cherished Toys & Joy Holiday Party. This annual celebration highlights LuskinOIC’s mission to uplift patients and families through community support and collective kindness which LuskinOIC believes is integral for a patient’s care and healing.
On Wednesday, December 11th, Santa is set to arrive in unforgettable style, flying over the snowy downtown Los Angeles sky in his "chopper sleigh" courtesy of 30-year partner, the LAPD SWAT team, before rappelling down the LuskinOIC Medical Pavilion wall to greet the ecstatic crowd. More than 1,000 pediatric patients, their families, and children in the community will gather at LuskinOIC's historic 114-year-old campus, which will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland to experience a festive day of gifts, joy, and holiday cheer.
At the heart of this magical day is LuskinOIC’s unwavering mission to advance health equity for every child in Los Angeles and beyond. More than 85% of LuskinOIC’s patients are underinsured; the nonprofit relies on the enduring support of donors and dedicated sponsors to help provide specialty care for children with musculoskeletal injuries and disorders and advances patient-centered care worldwide. The Institute also actively promotes medical education and groundbreaking scientific research in orthopaedics. In alliance with UCLA Health, LuskinOIC stands as the largest provider of pediatric orthopaedic care in CA, receives 60,000 patient visits annually, and offers pro-bono treatment to patients in Calexico and Mexicali, among other cities worldwide through their International Children’s Program.
