Deets: Grammy award-winning artist P!nk made her Desert Smash debut on the court playing in a doubles match with Grigor Dimitrov against Robin Thicke and Victoria Azarenka. To kick off the day, tennis pros Donna Vekic and Marta Kostyuk battled each other, while Jack Sock partnered with Andrew Liner for another doubles match vs Richard Gasquet and Colton Underwood. The day wrapped with an epic match of Casper Ruud facing off against Frances Tiafoe - with special chair umpire P!nk.
Longtime ESPN on-air Grand Slam Tennis host Chris McKendry emceed the event, powered by Wilson at the La Quinta Resort & Club.
In addition to live auction moments between the matches, there were several special moments throughout including a celebration of International Women’s Day with P!nk and Victoria Azarenka. The day also marked the announcement of Smash heading to the Bahamas hosted at Baha Mar.
The official evening after party, Desert Smash Bash, hosted at ZENYARA, the private estate of billionaire Philanthropist and friend of the event, Michael Scott, featured performances by Robin Thicke, Natasha Bedingfield, up and coming artist Zia Victoria and the band Vonan, all who attended the earlier festivities.
This year’s event, produced with MVA Experiential, Brand Innovators and Epic Sports, raised funds and awareness for Playing For Change Foundation (PFCF). Founded in 2007, PFCF was established to create positive change through music and arts education. The international non-profit organization is currently operating 17 music programs across 13 countries.
