Deets: Nina Dobrev will be at Huntington Beach during the 2024 US Open of Surfing on behalf SHISEIDO, for a beach cleanup in partnership with World Surf League (WSL) and its WSL One Ocean initiative.
Established in 2019, SHISEIDO Blue Project is a global effort to promote the protection of our ocean. Through this initiative, SHISEIDO and WSL have collaborated on a series of activities that promote respect for our oceans. These activities include cleaning up beaches, oyster restoration, leading global initiatives like WSL One Ocean, and promoting skin sun-safe habits.
Wednesday marks SHISEIDO Blue Project’s fourth West Coast beach clean-up joined by WSL One Ocean and WILDCOAST – an international team that conserves coastal and marine ecosystems and addresses climate change through natural solutions. WILDCOAST is committed to ocean conservation through various programs, such as the management and conservation of 545,280 acres of marine protected areas off California's coast, as well as their marine debris program, which has stopped over 225,000 lbs. of solid waste like plastic and tires from entering the Pacific Ocean through their trash boom (Mexico's first ever solid waste retention system).
Conserving the ocean requires marine protected areas, managing fisheries, and cleaning up what goes into the sea. Beach clean-ups reduce litter and protect critical habitats for wildlife. They help raise awareness about other issues in our oceans and galvanize communities to care.
