Deets: This year, a Pre-Parade VIP reception for the parade’s honored guests, main sponsors and important dignitaries will be held at 11am, with opening remarks from Chamber Chairman Chester Chong and President Kevin Chen. The Grand Marshal and 4 Honorary Marshals represented by members of City Council and Congress will preside over the festivities. During this reception, Chinese Chamber of Commerce will be recognized for both its work promoting US-Chinese business relations and cultural exchange and well as its avid support of important Chinese cultural traditions, such as this Lunar New Year Celebration.

The parade usually begins promptly at 1pm and last until 4pm. It is free to view and open to the public, although prime seating at the Grandstand can be purchased in eventbrite.com Please stay tuned for tickets sales. The parade kicks off at the intersection of Hill Street and Ord Street and makes a full lap over the 3 hours.

As Chinese Americans gather from all over Los Angeles to continue the festivities around the Lunar New Year, what they celebrate most of all is this time of families coming together – of gathering, unity and giving thanks for the coming year. Many partake in a traditional Lunar New Year dinner filled with special dishes to bring on fortune, health and happiness, as well as a time to remember their ancestors. Children receive red envelopes filled with lucky money from their elders and relatives, as this is an auspicious sign of good fortune.

As for the Chinese Zodiac, 2024 marks the Year of the Dragon. The Chinese Zodiac features twelve animals, and each year within a twelve year cycle is represented by one zodiac animal. The Dragon year is usually a powerful year.

The Chinese Chamber of Los Angeles welcomes all in Los Angeles and around the world to join us this Saturday for the 125th Golden Dragon Parade.

Hint for the Average Socialite: This event is FREE and open to the public.
