Deets: On February 15, join Metro Art at Los Angeles Union Station for Celebrating In Our Ancestors’ Footsteps, a complement to the exhibition Where You Stand: Chinatown 1880 to 1939, currently in the Waiting Room Gallery. The event will kick off with an exciting roaming performance of a traditional lion dance by local East Wind Foundation students and continue with an exhibition walk-through led by Metro Art.
Where You Stand: Chinatown 1880 to 1939 is a collaboration between Metro Art, the Huntington-USC Institute on California and the West, and the Chinese Historical Society of Southern California. The exhibition invites guests into the center of the once vibrant community that existed on the site of Union Station through historic photographs, oral history recordings and augmented reality intended to give Angelenos a look into the Chinese immigrant community of early Los Angeles.
Exhibition partners including Huntington-USC Institute on California and the West, the Chinese Historical Society of Southern California and several descendants of the families related to the exhibition will be present to share personal stories and experiences.
Go Metro to the event! Union Station is accessible via Metro Rail, Metro Bus and several municipal bus lines. Take the B, D, J or L Lines directly to Union Station. Plan your trip on Transit app for routes and connections or call 323-GO-METRO (323-466-3876).
