Deets: The Sturt Haaga Gallery at Descanso Gardens proudly presents Days of Reverie showcasing the latest works by four celebrated Los Angeles-based artists: Catherine Ruane, Debbie Korbel, Jason Jenn, and Jill Sykes. Curated by the innovative Vojislav Radovanović, the show will also feature an original musical composition by guest artist Joseph Carrillo, complimenting the art that was inspired by the natural beauty of Descanso Gardens.
Running from October 25, 2024 to January 26, 2025, the exhibition spans various artistic media, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, and site-specific installations. Each artist has spent the past year crafting new pieces that draw inspiration from the lush landscapes of Descanso Gardens, resulting in a collection that honors the spirit of the gardens while offering fresh perspectives. From immersive soundscapes to thought-provoking installations, Days of Reverie encourages visitors to engage with both the art and the environment in meaningful ways.
Radovanović has brought together a diverse group of artists whose work highlights the dynamic relationship between nature and art. Through an exploration of the changing seasons, the exhibition invites reflection on the fragility and resilience of our planet. As noted by writer Genie Davis in the exhibition catalogue, the show emphasizes the delicate balance of Earth’s ecosystems, linking the flora and fauna of Descanso Gardens to artistic interpretations of nature’s beauty and challenges.
Hint for the Average Socialite: Admission to the exhibit is included with regular admission.
