Deets: Santa Anita Park, a sister thoroughbred racetrack to TCK Oi Racetrack in Tokyo, Japan, will host the 29th running of the Tokyo City Cup (GIII) on Sunday, October 6th. Along with the race, “Japan Family Day” will be held on-site to celebrate the partnership between the two racetracks with a wide variety of Japanese cultural exhibitions, food booths, and travel information on Japan.

The Tokyo City Cup, won last year by Missed the Cut, is the sole graded stakes race named for a major city outside of the United States. A special Tokyo City Cup giveaway is available for a limited number of attendees and various giveaways from our sponsors. Detailed information for the event will be available on our website (below). Gates open at Santa Anita Park at 11:00 a.m., with the first post at 1:00 p.m.

Japan Family Day features Japanese cultural exhibition booths, a Taiko (Japanese drum) Performance, a Live Calligraphy Performance, Japanese Pop Culture, Cosplay, various entertainment for children (Games, Bounce House, Japanese Matsuri Booth, Kids Dance Stage, etc.), and many opportunities to enjoy your favorite Japanese cuisine, such as Sushi, Curry Rice, Okonomiyaki, Yakitori, Takoyaki, Onigiri, Tonkatsu, Tamagoyaki, Japanese BBQ, Karaage (Japanese Fried Chicken), Shaved Ice, and much more!
