Deets: The Aster, Hollywood’s new boutique luxury hotel and members’ club, announces the continuation of its Food As Art series with a pop-up from World’s 50 Best Restaurant chef Jaime Pesaque on December 3 and December 4, 2023. Chef Pesaque, who founded the internationally acclaimed Mayta restaurant in Peru, will take guests on a transportive gastronomic journey during a five-course dinner held at Lemon Grove, The Aster’s signature rooftop restaurant overlooking the Hollywood Hills.

Each of Chef Pesaque’s dishes conveys a personal expression based on the flavors and preparations of memory and history brought to modernity. The culinary adventure will feature contemporary Peruvian cuisine accompanied by surprise elements and interactive experiences with Chef Pesaque. Tickets are now available on Resy for $125 per person or $50 for members of The Aster. Cocktails crafted with Mortlach single-malt scotch are available for an additional cost as well as menu-inspired wine pairings for $70 per person.

By exploring the intersection of artistic and culinary abilities, Food As Art goes beyond taste to activate all of the senses – a thread that runs through experiences at The Aster hotel and social club. Members and guests enjoy access to a curated collection of programming that enriches mind, body and community with personalities from all different backgrounds and industries. Experiences are weaved throughout the varying spaces within The Aster including educational talks, master classes, screenings, DJ sets, musical performances and wellness workshops.

Born and raised in Peru, Chef Pesaque trained in Europe and apprenticed in Michelin-starred restaurants in Italy and Spain. In addition to his flagship restaurant Mayta, Chef Pesaque is the creator of popular culinary brands 500 Grados, Mad Burger and Sapiens. In 2022, Mayta entered The World's 50 Best Restaurants list and was elected again in 2023. Mayta also earned the title of Best Restaurant in the World by the World Culinary Awards in 2022.

Food As Art is an immersive dining series that takes guests on a culinary world tour right from The Aster’s Hollywood rooftop. Each event features globally recognized chefs who blend their distinct techniques and secret recipes with seasonal ingredients available in California to create sophisticated, artfully presented dishes that you cannot experience anywhere else. The inaugural pop-up featured Chef Mads Refslund of Copenhagen’s world-renowned NOMA restaurant. Subsequent events have featured Colombian chef Alvaro Clavijo of El Chato, a mainstay on Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants list, and chef Najat Kaanache, who The New York Times credits as one of the female chefs redefining Moroccan cuisine at her restaurant Nur.

With the continued success of the series, Food As Art has helped establish The Aster as one of LA’s premier culinary destinations where a diverse mix of communities, vendors and food enthusiasts can come together over worldly cuisine and cocktails. In September 2023, the property partnered with The Los Angeles Times for the annual L.A. Food Bowl and hosted a sold-out multi-course dining experience in collaboration with Chef Ton Tassanakajohn of Le Du, ranked Best Restaurant in Asia in 2023.
