Deets: One of the country’s biggest celebrations of the global Black diaspora will be returning to Los Angeles this month, to coincide with Africa Day. AFRICON - the four day conference that brings together music, innovation, business, activism, education and more, will see notables including Chaka Bars, Jidenna, Kweku Mandela, Elsa Majimbo and more, gather to uplift, acknowledge and celebrate the diversity of the African continent and the diaspora, through the lens of entertainment, media, technology and leadership. 

Following on from the success of the inaugural AFRICON conference in 2021, this years conference will offer panels, parties, a gala, a music festival and the opportunity to shop Black businesses. AFRICON will also be raising funds for I Heart Africa, the philanthropic organization founded by Chaka Bars working to resettle 100,000 people displaced by a volcanic eruption in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo. 

Schedule of events:

  • Wednesday, May 25 - Africa Day Celebration hosted by Kweku Mandela 

  • Thursday, May 26 - Keynote, Panels, and Fireside Chats, Movie Screening 

  • Friday, May 27 - Keynote Speech, Panels, Fireside Chats and Afro Ball Gala, After Party with PVO & Afrochella 

  • Saturday, May 28 - Afro Music Festival headlined by Jidenna 

AFRICON 2022 is presented by Amplify Africa and The Africa Channel.
