Deets: Outfest, the Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization whose impact promotes empathy for the global LGBTQIA+ community, careers in the entertainment industry, and the exhibition/preservation of LGBTQIA+ stories and voices -- announced today that they will honor Marvel Studios’ Victoria Alonso with the Visionary Award at the 2021 Outfest Legacy Awards at the brand-new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, on Saturday, November 13th, presented by Cadillac and IMDb. The event is also kicking off the organization’s 40th anniversary year.
Also being honored at the gala will be Neon, receiving the Guardian Award which recognizes a company’s commitment and legacy to the LGBTQIA+community; Jonathan Howard, receiving the Outfest Legacy Award which honors his extensive contribution to Outfest as a Board member; Robin de Jesús (Actor, tick, tick...BOOM!) receiving the Terrence McNally Award which acknowledges his out and proud career across stage and film; Rain Valdez (Razor Tongue) receiving the Trailblazer Award which celebrates her fierce creativity as a writer, director and actor in creating roles and Emmy-nominated shows ensuring that trans people lives are seen; and current Board Co-President Alan Koenigsberg and immediate past Outfest Board Co-President Marissa Román-Griffith, receiving the Jonathan Howard Legacy Award honoring their outstanding leadership during a global pandemic.
Additional participants of the evening include actresses Brie Larson and Jamie Clayton as well as an evening opening performance by Garrett Clayton.
In honoring Victoria Alonso, the Visionary Award will recognize her contributions to LGBTQ+ representation and media visibility. Alonso is President, Physical and Post Production, Visual Effects, and Animation Production for Marvel Studios. She’s also an executive producer on Marvel Studios’ films and series, including such hits as Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Widow, Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings, WandaVision, Loki, among others. Alonso’s impact on the community reaches a global level and inspires millions.
Past recipients at the Outfest Legacy Awards include Laverne Cox, Tom Hanks, Judith Light, Rita Moreno, Lee Daniels, Joey Soloway, Hillary Swank, Sean Hayes, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Bruce Cohen, Lisa Cholodenko, Craig Zadan & Neil Merdon, and Tanya Saracho, amongst others.
The 2021 Outfest Legacy Awards are presented by Cadillac and IMDb.

Founded by UCLA students in 1982, Outfest is the world’s leading organization that promotes equality by creating, sharing and protecting LGBTQIA+ stories on the screen. Outfest builds community by connecting diverse populations to discover, discuss and celebrate stories of LGBTQIA+ lives. For forty years, Outfest has showcased thousands of films from around the world, educated and mentored hundreds of emerging filmmakers, and protected more than 40,000 LGBTQIA+ films and videos. The Outfest Screenwriting Lab, established in 1997, has mentored nearly 150 screenwriters, propelling both films into produced feature films and establishing writers into writers’ rooms. The Outfest UCLA Legacy Project, a partnership with the UCLA FIlm & Television Archive, is the only film archive in the world exclusively dedicated to preserving LGBTQIA+ images and has restored over 25 films.
