Deets: The people have spoken, and tonight E! celebrated the best in movies, television, music and pop culture chosen solely by the fans during the network’s third annual “E! People’s Choice Awards” telecast, which was hosted by vocal powerhouse Demi Lovato and broadcast live from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, CA across the cable networks of NBCUniversal, including Bravo, E!, SYFY, and USA.
This year, E! honored entertainment powerhouse Jennifer Lopez with The People’s Icon Award; world-renowned entertainment mogul, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Tyler Perry with The People’s Champion Award; and award-winning actor, producer, and CEO Tracee Ellis Ross with The Fashion Icon Award.
Performances of the night included Justin Bieber’s powerful performance ofchart-topping single “Holy” and newly released song “Lonely” along with an energetic performance of “Ungodly Hour” by duo Chloe x Halle.
Highlights from the show included:
Demi Lovato kicked off the night with a monologue to a virtual audience joining from home and was surprised by Jimmy Fallon who live tweeted in support of her hosting HERE. Select fans were also chosen to announce the winners for awards throughout the night.
Tracee Ellis Ross accepted The Fashion Icon Award, where she said "I do" to fashion and recognized the influence of her iconic mother, Diana Ross.
When accepting The People’s Icon Award, Jennifer Lopez was surprised with video messages from celebrity friends and family members, including Renée Zellweger, Nicole Kidman, Kim Kardashian, Matthew McConaughey, Jane Fonda and her kids Max and Emme, who watched her accept the award live.
The staff and crew from Tyler Perry Studios joined virtually to support Tyler Perry as he accepted The People’s Champion Award and delivered a heartfelt speech.
Justin Bieber gave a powerful performance of his chart-topping single “Holy” and newly released song “Lonely” and was followed by an energetic performance of “Ungodly Hour” by duo Chloe x Halle.
Ellen DeGeneres accepted her award for Daytime Talk Show on behalf of her cast and crew and thanked her fans for sticking by her over this past year.
Sofia Vergara dedicated the Comedy TV Star award to her Modern Family cast, crew and creators and stated that this is the last award that she will receive for Modern Family after wrapping the final season this year.
Mandy Moore showed off her baby bump while accepting the Drama TV Star of 2020.
Fans were treated to a Saved By The Bell reunion with Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley.
