Deets: Kick off the holiday season this year with the National Christmas Tree lighting! Presented by the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation, this beloved American tradition features live musical performances as well as the official lighting of the National Christmas Tree on the Ellipse at the White House and President's Park. This year's tree lighting ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 5.  

Hint for the Average Socialite: Free tickets are awarded to the public via an online lottery, which will open at 10 AM ET on October 23 and run through 10 AM ET on October 30.  To enter the lottery, visit recreation.gov and click “TICKET LOTTERY”.  You may also call 877-444-6777 to enter the lottery.

Lottery applicants will be notified about their ticket status on Nov. 8.    More details about this year’s tree lighting will be made available in the coming weeks at thenationaltree.org.
