This year’s exhibition is the newest iteration of past cherry blossom-themed installations, bringing back fan favorites alongside new interactive experiences. Deets: The popular National Gallery Nights after-hours program returns to the East Building this spring. Visitors are invited to join us on the second Thursday of March, April, and May from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. 

The season kicks off March 13 with a celebration of “Revolutionary Women,” which includes after-hours access to the upcoming exhibition of works by Elizabeth Catlett. On April 10 we celebrate the Earth as we “Reduce, Reuse, Remix,” and “70’s Disco Prom” on May 8. 

Light fare, gelato, and beverages—including beer, wine, and specialty cocktails—will be available for purchase throughout the East Building, in the Cascade Café, Terrace Café, and at the Espresso & Gelato Bar.  

Hint for the Average Socialite: Registration will be offered through a lottery system. The lottery will take place the week before each event. It will open on Monday at 10:00 a.m. and close on Thursday at noon. The Friday before each program, we will notify all lottery entrants whether they have been selected to register. Additionally, limited walk-up passes will be available at the East Building entrance before each event. They will be distributed first come, first served starting at 5:30 p.m.

Sara and Desiree are both acclaimed performers known for their soulful voices and captivating performances. Originally from Valencia, Spain, and now based in Santa Barbara, MAESTRO’s work is influenced by his architectural precision and multimedia expertise. Through augmented reality QR code integration, viewers can engage with his pieces in a new digital dimension.

Deets: The Colonnade at Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown is the place to be in America's capital city for Easter Sunday Brunch on April 20. During brunch, the Easter Bunny will visit with children of all ages and, an electric violinist will provide musical entertainment.

Easter egg hunts will take place in the courtyard at 1pm and at 4pm for children, after they have finished enjoying Easter Brunch in the Colonnade.

Among the Chefs’ Easter Brunch offerings is a seafood display featuring Chesapeake oysters, jumbo poached shrimp, snow crab, Dutch mussels, and smoked whitefish. Easter entrée selections include a carving station of honey-glazed Nueske’s ham and horseradish crusted prime rib. Signature dishes - organic roasted chicken, rainbow chard and citrus-baked are accompanied by spring thumbelina carrots and grilled broccolini. Brunch classics including house-made pastries, a cage free egg and omelet station, Belgian waffles and French toast are just a sampling of the many offerings on the Easter buffet.

The children’s buffet includes crispy chicken fingers, Wagyu beef sliders, potato latke, buttered broccoli and the ever-popular baked macaroni and cheese.

Deets: National Harbor will hold its fourth Annual Juneteenth Freedom Celebration on Thursday, June 19 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The event, “Rooted in Resilience, Growing in Unity,” honors Juneteenth’s legacy commemorating the ending of slavery when the emancipation proclamation was finally enforced in Texas on June 19, 1865. 

The event at National Harbor will kick off at 11 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. with a Black-owned marketplace in the Capital Canopy (151 National Plaza). More than 30 vendors will showcase Black-owned businesses and provide a range from clothing to accessories to home goods.

Live entertainment will take place from 2 to 6:30 p.m. and will include music, performances and interactive experiences on the Plaza Stage (150 National Plaza).

Movies on the Potomac will feature Black Panther starting at 7 p.m. on the big waterfront screen (150 National Plaza.)

Deets: The nation’s springtime parade returns Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Individual and group grandstand seating is the best way to experience the Parade.

Every year, The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade® — the nation’s springtime parade — fills the iconic Constitution Avenue with blossom magic, featuring giant helium balloons, stunning floats, and renowned characters we all love. The Parade is a highlight of the Festival, a culmination of four weeks of celebrations rolled up into a colorful and musical extravaganza for the whole family. It takes place on the final weekend of the Festival, as one of several events spanning four weeks to celebrate spring and the beauty of the cherry blossoms. The Festival will take place March 20 - April 13, 2025.

Hint for the Average Socialite: Tickets to view the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade® Presented by Events DC for designated grandstands are now available for sale. Access to non-ticketed portions of the Parade along Constitution Avenue NW between 7th and 17th Streets is free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. 

The Parade is a RAIN OR SHINE event. The use of umbrellas in the grandstand bleachers is discouraged. Every guest needs a ticket, except children under 2. Unticketed children must sit on the lap of a ticket holder. The use of strollers in the grandstand bleachers is discouraged as there is no storage space.

Deets: Experience the spirit of New Orleans—feathers, beads and all—during Mardi Gras at The Wharf! The free, community-wide festival features a mile-long parade down Wharf Street, showcasing decorated floats, stilt walkers, the King and Queen of Mardi Gras and other special appearances like The Racing Presidents of the Washington Nationals, G-Wiz of the Washington Wizards and more.

After the parade, groove to the rhythm of Mardi Gras with live music by The Naptown Brass Band, The Experience Band & Show, Too Much Talent Band and Crush Funk Brass Band. Kids can join in on the festivities with Mardi Gras-themed craft stations while the adults sip on Thrasher’s Rum Hurricanes.

The celebration will conclude with a fireworks finale over the water.

Deets: The Ballyshaners 42nd Alexandria St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on Saturday, March 1st, 2025. Residents and tourists are encouraged to come early to enjoy the events at one of the DC area’s finest parades. All events are free to the public.

Alexandria boasts the first St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the DC area. Traditionally, this parade is held the first Saturday in March, and serves to attract the finest entries. The parade normally features pipe bands, Irish dance schools, community groups, and a host of other performers and entertainment. It’s a fantastic day to spend with family or friends!

The parade officially starts at the corner of King Street and (From Alfred to Asaph) Street at 12:30pm, with dignitaries leading the procession at 12:15 pm. The parade proceeds east on King Street, finishing at the corner of (From Lee and Cameron Streets to Fairfax and Cameron Streets) .

With thousands of spectators and participants expected, parade goers are encouraged to take advantage of public transportation. The closest Metro is the Blue Line, King Street/Old Town. There is a free trolley from the Metro, or the activities can be reached by a short 10-minute walk down King Street.

Deets: Thousands of spectators will line the streets of Old Town Alexandria to cheer on the oldest and largest George Washington Birthday Parade in the country!  This year’s parade theme is George Washington: America’s Commander-in-Chief, marking the 250th anniversary of the start of the Revolutionary War and founding of the United States Army. Fans will enjoy free celebrations on Super Bowl LIX Sunday with food and beverages from locally-owned small businesses, meet and greets with local football heroes, live local music acts, interactive games and unique football fan experiences – and in select cities, experiencing Super Bowl LIX activities on the field. Verizon customers can bring a select number of guests to FanFest to share the afternoon of celebrations with family and friends.

Key highlights of the Verizon Super Bowl FanFest include:

  • Stadiums and iconic locations, in select cities: Take a selfie from the 50-yard line, spike a ball in the endzone, take a tour of the locker rooms, enjoy tailgate games and participate in football-themed activities on the field. Fans will have once-in-a-lifetime field and stadium access, including at MetLife, SoFi, Nissan Stadium, Empower Field at Mile High Stadium, and more.

  • Local Hall-of-Famers and player meet & greets: Fans will be hosted by a lineup of NFL legends and players in their hometowns, getting up close and personal with the likes of Tiki Barber, Emmanuel Sanders, Patrick Willis, Derrick Brooks, Jason Witten, Marshall Faulk, Jamaal Charles, Jason Taylor, and many more.

  • Local Entertainment: The experience will be stacked with entertainment from team cheerleaders, local artists and live bands such as the Rams Mariachi band and Texans Gameday presentation team, as well as beats from local hit DJs such as DJ Infared, DJ Jay Ejercito, DJ Split Second Sound, and more — keeping fans entertained and energized throughout the day.
