Deets: Why should kids get all the treats on Halloween? Knightsbridge Restaurant Group’s inviting new wine bar, Little Blackbird, located in the heart of Cleveland Park at 3309 Connecticut Avenue, 20008, is indulging adults this Halloween with a collection of wine & candy pairings. Four delicious pairings are being added to the menu and will be available from October 16 through November 5. Prices range from $14 to $17 for a piece of candy and a five-ounce wine pour. The complete list of pairings and tasting notes is listed below.
Chardonnay & Candy Corn. An oaked chardonnay with its woodsy characteristics and vanilla notes will contrast with the intense sugary sweetness of the candy corn. This is a contrasting pairing which creates balance. Priced at $17.
Amontillado Sherry & Peanut Butter Cups. This pairing has a complementary undertone. Amontillado Sherry is somewhat dry but has a nutty taste with notes of tobacco, toasted cedar, and hazelnut. This rich Sherry complements both the chocolate and the peanut butter of the peanut butter cup. Priced at $14.
Orange Muscat & Circus Peanuts. Circus Peanuts have a neutral and chewy texture that screams for acid and sweetness, both of which the Orange Muscat dessert wine offers. The acid of the Orange Muscat cuts through the chewy cloying Circus Peanut on the palate and the sweetness will add liveliness to the pairing. Priced at $15.
Blanc De Blanc Sparkling Wine & Fun Dip. The fun dip and Blanc De Blanc Sparkling pairing are a showstopper for two reasons. First, the powdery candy is infused with the effervescence of a sparkling counterpart, and secondly because of the complexity inherent to the Blanc De Blanc adds depth to the one-note fun dip candy. Priced at $14.
