Hot Spot: Private location, Beverly Hills, CA

Deets:
The Servir Foundation presented its 4th International Gala on Saturday, May 26th at the Waldorf Astoria in support of the ongoing fight against Chronic Kidney Disease. The Servir Foundation was founded in May 1996 by Madame Henriette Konan Bédié, the former 1st Lady of the Republic of Côte d´Ivoire for advancing the cause of fighting against chronic kidney disease. In Sub-Saharan Africa, more than 14% of of the adult population suffers from chronic kidney disease (CKD). Treatment of CKD on the African continent is costly and there are too few facilities that perform transplants.

More than 100 guests attended the ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria to gather in support of the cause. Guests enjoyed curated cocktails by Royal Elite Vodka. Royal Elite Vodka is an original recipe from the 1800's that has never been produced commercially, until now. Royal Elite Vodka featured their exquisite Purple 8 Times Distilled and Truly Gluten Free versions. The event hosted an Ivory Coast-themed menu by Waldrof Astoria. Also, a live and silent auction, which included personal paintings by Chaz Guest and jewelry by Greene & Co. raised funds for CKD. Guests were on hand to bid on the items in the charitable spirit.

Madame Henriette Konan Bédié founded Servir as an international non-profit foundation that brings together good will and committed volunteers offering their time and expertise to serve the disadvantaged in the fight against CKD in Africa. Henriette Kazan Bomo Konan Bédié, was the wife of Ivorian President Henri Konan Bédié and thus First Lady of Côte D'Ivoire from 1993 to 1999. During her tenure, she had multiple buildings built in her native village, as well as hospitals that bore her name. She created the Servir Foundation which continues to raise on the of average nearly 400 million CFA francs per year (an estimate of $750.000).

Servir also identifies unresolved social problems in the short-term and mobilizes a network of national and international donors to solve them. Another facet of this event is the need for awareness on the challenges and failures of treatment for CKD in Africa as well as the necessity for education on prevention. Servir hosted its first International Gala in 2015 in Monaco. The Foundation’s goal is to raise donations in support of their mission to fight CKD in Africa. The Gala, produced by Kings Law Enterprise will be Servir’s 4th International Gala in support of the on-going fight against Chronic Kidney Disease.

In addition to raising funds and awareness for CKD, Kings Law Enterprise and the Foundation’s goal for this year’s gala was also to “bridge the gap” between Africa and North America. This year’s Gala is especially poignant as recent popular culture, the entertainment industry and the media are conveying Africa as a more developed continent in movies like Black Panther in particular. The narrative has changed, and given more awareness with events such as this, the hope is to build on this shift in perception to open opportunities in business, education and mutual commitment to thriving in our current complex and virtually connected world.

As the gap closes and our Continents come closer together, we will experience a multicultural and mutual understanding that will help build this necessary bridge. By using this momentum to continue to bridge the gap through culture and awareness, the Servir Foundation can prosper from a new-found conduit and swiftly reach set goals with a broader scope of support and exposure. As North American countries continue to partner with countries in Africa we can see the gap fading.

As a proactive concept, Kings Law Enterprise was tasked to direct and produce the Servir Foundation’s 4th International Red-Carpet Gala in Beverly Hills California in May 26, 2018. Their company and clientele come from a very diverse background and are passionate about bridging barriers through understanding and connecting via business, education and cultures, among different continents around the world.
