Last year’s Black Ball celebrated the ingenuity, creativity, and vibrancy of Africa’s people, and our goal to eliminate AIDS as a factor in their future.
The evening was hosted by Alicia Keys and emceed by Chris Rock. Patrice Motsepe and Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe were honored for their humanitarian efforts and their commitment to the sustainable development of African communities. The night closed with electrifying musical performances by Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, Wale and LION BABE.
The Black Ball generated 480 million impressions in print, broadcast and online coverage and the night extended beyond the physical event with a social media campaign that resulted in 1 billion impressions.
Most importantly, the amazing evening raised $3.8 million in essential funds to support our work, bringing the total raised by our annual Black Ball to $28.7 million.
