Deets: Derrick Coleman Jr. is a fullback for the Super Bowl XLVIII champion team, the Seattle Seahawks. He made history by becoming the first deaf offensive player in the NFL, and he is the first-ever deaf player to win a Super Bowl.
Derrick played college football for UCLA, where he rushed for more than 1,100 yards in his final two seasons with the Bruins, scoring eleven touchdowns in his senior year alone. Undrafted, Derrick signed as a free agent with the Minnesota Vikings, then with the Seahawks a year later.
Off the field, Derrick uses his charisma and celebrity status to encourage people to pursue their dreams, despite obstacles that inevitably arise. He is the founder and CEO of the Derrick L. Coleman No Excuse Foundation, an organization that advocates for the hearing impaired community as well as works to lessen instances of bullying.
Derrick was featured in an enormously popular Duracell battery commercial as well as a viral YouTube video where two nine-year-olds with hearing impairments met him and received Super Bowl tickets.
