The month-long campaign aligns the hospital with local businesses who rally community participation to support children’s health. More than 75 businesses and corporate partners in Los Angeles and the Coachella Valley have committed to help the hospital exceed its $1 million goal to provide critical, life-saving care for every child they treat.

Make March Matter® is an annual fundraising campaign that brings local businesses and the community together to support Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The goal is to raise $1 million during the month of March to maintain programs and services at CHLA that build healthier futures for children. Over the past three years more than 200 companies throughout Southern California have joined the Make March Matter campaign raising more than $7 million for children’s health and CHLA.

Who You May Spot:

Talent – To be announced
Paul S. Viviano   President and CEO, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles
Dawn Wilcox - Vice President of Corporate Partnerships and Founder of Make March Matter, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles
Alexandra Carter – Senior Vice President and CDO, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles
Tina Hsing – Panda Express (Panda Cares) Representative
Alex Bechtel and her son, Maverick – Patient and Patient family

  • Maverick – Diagnosed with end-stage renal disease, Maverick was sent to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where months before his first birthday doctors determined he needed a kidney transplant. With the search for a donor growing longer, Maverick’s mother, Alex, decided to look in-house. Her kidney was found to be the perfect fit, and on Jan. 22, 2020, CHLA transplant surgeon Kambiz Etesami, MD, replaced Maverick’s diseased kidney with his mother’s healthy one, saving the baby’s life. In no time, Maverick’s sickly pale skin turned fresh pink and his entire system was revived. Alex now reports her son, now 3, is a smiling, laughing “little baby cannonball.”
