Deets: Rhonda’s Kiss hosts an annual gala to raise money for their Patient Care Assistance Programs. In lieu of our annual spring gala event, we are engaging in a virtual gala online to benefit cancer patients in need affiliated with City of Hope. Rhonda's Kiss raises funds for the non medical expenses inclusive of Rent, Childcare, Wigs, Groceries, Transportation, Therapy + Massage, and more, that insurance does not cover.

40% of COH’s patient population makes less than $40,000 per year, making it challenging to take care of those critical non-medical needs, on top of treatment. The COVID- 19 pandemic has challenged this, already financially sensitive population.

With this virtual event, we aim to reach our campaign goal, so we can continue to reach and support the dramatically increasing population of cancer patients struggling to meet their day-day living expenses, while dealing with their diagnosis and treatment. Between 33% and 80% of cancer survivors’ exhaust their savings to pay for medical expenses and up to 34% borrow money from friends or family. For those who fall into debt, the level of debt is substantial. Bankruptcy rates among cancer survivors are 260% higher than among similar households without cancer.
