Deets: This Labor Day weekend, Southampton will welcome art lovers from all over the world as it plays host to the Hampton’s Fine Art Fair at Southampton Arts Center, September 2-6th. This year, over 70 international art galleries from across the country and world will showcase their most important 20th and 21st century art, all for immediate acquisition. There will be over 400 revered artists on display, with a focus on accomplished Black artists, hot emerging artists, the blue-chip masters, an M.C. Escher display, and rediscovery of significant second-generation Abstract Expressionists. Founder and producer of the fair, Rick Friedman has announced artist Audrey Flack will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by Hollis Taggart Galleries. Bruce Dorfman will be the Hampton’s Fine Art Fair featured artist, represented by Elizabeth Clement Fine Art.
Never before has there been an international art fair in the heart of bustling Southampton Village. The centrally located Southampton Arts Center (formally the Parrish Art Museum) will be momentously converted to an elegant art fair site utilizing both the entire historic building and its plush outdoor grounds. In addition to exhibiting inside the esteemed Southampton’s Art Center museum building, there are also two secure and climate controlled Pavilions—the de Kooning Pavilion and Pollock Pavilion featuring original works by those artists, plus a replica of the Jackson Pollock Barn paint stained floor. For years, this revered historic building and grounds has served as one of the region’s magnets for the East End’s art cognoscenti. HFAF will also create an outdoor sculpture park on the grounds of arts center featuring impressive works by Louise Bourgeois, Larry Rivers, David Salle, Bill King, Hans Van de Bovenkamp, Joel Pearlman, Audrey Flack, Chakaia Booker and others.
