PANELISTS
Anas “Andy” Shallal is an artist and social entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of Busboys and Poets, a group of restaurants in the Washington Metropolitan area where art, culture and politics intentionally collide over mindfully sourced food, drinks and programming that feeds the mind body and soul. With 6 locations in and around DC, Busboys and Poets has become home for progressives, artists and intellectuals including such notables as the late Howard Zinn, Cornel West, Alice Walker and Nikki Giovanni to name a few.
Ran Nussbacher, Shouk’s co-founder and CEO of Shouk, launched the company with a simple mission: to make plant-based eating mainstream. Convinced that eliminating animals from our plates is the only sustainable way forward, Ran has set out to change our eating habits, one pita at a time. Having been inspired by the markets and lively food of his native Israel, Ran and Shouk are getting us to eat our veggies, and love it. Prior to founding Shouk, Ran served as Vice President of Sales with Opower, a clean tech software company focused on eliminating energy waste and reducing CO2 emissions.

Darryl Perkins is a social enterprise developer focused on building sustainable, engaged and thriving communities. As co-founder of the Broccoli City Festival and Conference, Daryl has gathered over 120,000 people in the spirit of environmental sustainability, community health, and business development. Kate Zuckerman co-founded kombucha company Blue Ridge Bucha with her husband Ethan in 2010. With a tagline of "big flavor, small footprint," Blue Ridge Bucha focuses on making delicious kombucha in an environmentally sustainable way. In 2018, Blue Ridge Bucha received a national SCORE award in recognition of their innovation and leadership in sustainable small business. In addition to owning and operating her small business, Kate also teaches yoga and meditation classes and offers mindfulness-based consulting services for start up businesses.
