Deets: Deep in the heart of the Ecuadorian jungle of the Llanganates lies the lost treasure of the last Incan emperor, Atahualpa. The jungle with all its preternatural forces protects this fabled treasure of gold and emeralds.
Pipe, a typical teenager and wannabe professional soccer player, scoffs at the treasure. His father’s family has been searching for it without success for decades. Living in the U.S., he doesn’t want to take part in the search. He barely knows his father Luis Felipe, a thirty five year old man obsessed with his own father Andrés’ quest to find the treasure. Growing up in the shadow of his father's greatness, Luis Felipe refuses to be anything else but a son.
When Andrés falls sick, Luis Felipe summons Pipe to Ecuador. It is Pipe’s time to be introduced to the family's heritage. The Fernández-Salvador family possesses a secret original map showing the location of the treasure and now there is a new clue. Pipe meets the crew members, who are skeptical and nervous about Andrés not leading them. Manri, Andrés' guide in the jungle for decades, gives Pipe his grandfather's journal documenting past expeditions. Luis Felipe falls slowly into madness as the search consumes him. The group confronts impossible paths, swarms of mosquitos, the humid freezing cold, the lack of oxygen and vicious pumas. Nature relentlessly opposes the explorers.
The men embark on the final segment of the journey. What they find is a deeper understanding of the meaning of life, the generational knots that bring us into being, and the power of myth in the mind of those who choose to believe.
