Deets: Opening Wednesday, October 3 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Nightmare Machine is a spine-tingling, immersive experience that takes the best of Halloween haunted houses and adds shareable moments from our pop-culture-infused collective unconscious. Built for a modern audience, this limited-run pop-up is the perfect place in NYC to capture creepy content for Halloween.
From the founders of this summer’s smash success Dream Machine—which transported participants into their wildest dreams—Nightmare Machine will run October 3-31. This Halloween-themed reimagining of the popular Dream Machine experience turns the whimsical wonderland on its head, with a supremely spooky twist.
A trip through the nine rooms of Nightmare Machine will take you into a labyrinth of the subconscious. Filled with the things you’d rather stay in the dark, guests will experience everything from aliens and UFOs to fiery (ball) pits, to every New Yorker’s biggest fear—a room teeming with cockroaches!
Cheeky nods to culturally-inspired themes, like a space dedicated to creepy clowns, a “Millennial Graveyard” and Clockwork Orange-inspired tunnel, will evoke the uncanny sensation of walking through a living nightmare.
“Our goal with Nightmare Machine is to tap into our weirdest nighttime dreamscapes and create a creepy, fun, and content focused experience that will transport you into an alternate world,” said Paige Solomon, founder of both Nightmare Machine and Dream Machine. “Halloween is an incredible holiday because it gives us the freedom to experiment with the hidden sides of our personalities, and explore things that tantalize and terrify us in everyday life.”
Hint For The Average Socialite: New Yorkers are invited to experience the scariest depths of their unconscious at Nightmare Machine located at 93 North 9th Street in Brooklyn, NY. Tickets are on sale now!
The self-guided tour through the creepy, macabre and just plain weird scenes that make up our collective nightmares will last approximately 45 minutes, with plenty of photo opportunities and interactive moments.
Nightmare Machine is created for anyone with an appreciation for the surreal and eerie. There will be a few surprises for guests, and, some scenes may be too scary for the littlest ghouls. We recommend guests 13 and older join the fun, but age limit is up to parental discretion.
Costumes are highly encouraged to participate in the experience, but no masks or weapons of any kind will be allowed in.
