Deets: In celebration of HOLA Mexico Film Festival’s 10thAnniversary, the Festival will host free film screenings every Thursday - April 5 through May 24 - at the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles. As a look back at the Festival’s milestone 10 year history, each of the eight films featured in this series has been a notable Festival Opening Night selection.

The consulate film series kicks off on Thursday, April 5 at 6:30pm with a red carpet event and special screening of Arráncame La Vida which includes an exclusive Q&A with the film’s Director Roberto Sneider and actress Ana Claudia Talancón. This celebration will also include a culinary event with food and drinks available.

In addition, in the lobby of the cinema of the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles, there will be an installation showcasing the posters from the past nine years of HOLA Mexico Film Festival.

The eight week lineup includes:

· April 5 | 6:30pm – Arráncame La Vida (Tear This Heart Out)

Based partially in the life of General Maximiano Avila Camacho, brother of the Mexican president Manuel Avila Camacho. He was governor of Puebla from 1937 to 1941 and served as secretary of public works in his brother's Cabinet. He was infamous for being ruthless, arrogant and violent with his political enemies.

Mexico's 2009 official Academy Awards foreign-language submission.

Following the screening will be an exclusive Q&A with the film’s Director Roberto Sneiderand actress Ana Claudia Talancón.

· April 12 | 6:30pm – Bala Mordida (Bitten Bullet)

Mauro Hernandez, a young preventive policeman, gets involved in a coke deal, and when problems arise, gives his gun away to cover the deal. Things get out of control when the media gets involved. The scandal on the bad quality of body armor turns into an investigation of misappropriation of police funds. Mauro is presented as a victim of administrative corruption. Using the power that his uniform gives him and the sympathy of the media, Mauro starts to blackmail anyone who crosses his way. Mauro and his commander become involved in a dirty war inside the police force, a struggle filled with espionage, murders, and betrayal.

· April 19 | 6:30pm – Acorazado (Battleship)

A Mexican worker tries to migrate to the United States posing as a Cuban immigrant, but destiny has something else in mind for him.

Following the screening will be an exclusive Q&A with the film’s Director Álvaro Curiel.

· April 26 | 6:30pm – Días de Gracia (Days of Grace)

Mexico City. 2002, 2006, 2010. A cop. A hostage. A wife. Corruption, violence, vengeance. Three destinies, during 30 days, during three Soccer World Cups. Three ways to fight in order to survive.

· May 3 | 6:30pm – Cásese Quien Pueda

Ana is a bride to be that gets drunk after finding some secrets from her fiancée and ends up in a jungle. Daniela, has always been afraid to tell her best friend she has feelings for him, both their courage will be tested.

· May 10 | 6:30pm – Gloria

A rebellious and controversial Mexican pop icon becomes a huge success with her style and catchy songs, but a larger than life scandal will rock her world entirely.

· May 17 | 6:30pm – La Delgada Línea Amarilla (The Thin Yellow Line)

Five men are hired to paint the lines of a road. Painting 1 km/hour is slow enough to learn the lines between good and evil, laughter and despair, life and death. The challenges they face will change their lives forever.

· May 24 | 6:30pm – La Vida Inmoral de La Pareja Ideal (Tales Of an Immoral Couple)

Martina and Lucio meet again 25 years after their appasionate young romance.
