American Cancer Society’s Cal Spirit 32 Gala Fundraiser, LA
Deets: The American Cancer Society’s California Spirit 32 gourmet garden party honored Fran Dresher, actress, 16-year uterine cancer survivor and US State Dept. public diplomacy envoy for women’s health with its annual Mission Award on Sunday, July 16 at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City. The event was hosted by Richard Blais, of Top Chef, Top Chef All-Stars, Iron Chef America and Chopped All-Stars as a competitor.
Honorary chairs Sherry Lansing (Paramount Pictures, STOP CANCER, Stand Up 2 Cancer), Phil Rosenthal (15-time Emmy Award-winning “Everyone Loves Raymond,” “Spanglish,” “I’ll have What Phil’s Having”), and Bill Chait (Founder of Sprout Restaurant Group – Bestia, Barrel and Ashes, Republique) welcomed the crowd and Andrew Firestone (“The Bachelor”) presided over the live auction.
Cedars-Sinai Medica Center Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute also received the California Recognizing Excellence for Health Systems for its outstanding support of American Cancer Society patient services, cancer research, and public outreach for cancer prevention and early detection.
Guests enjoyed offerings from LA’s top restaurants including 71 Above, Ayara Luk, Barrel & Ashes, BOA Steakhouse, Bouchon Beverly Hills, Fig & Olive, Girasol, Roku, Sprinkles, Takami Sushi and Robata, Tavern, and Wolfgang Puck Catering. Libations were poured by Codigo 1530 Tequila, Danone Waters of America, Kikori Whiskey, Lagunitas Brewing Company, Jim Palmer of Malibu Wines, Moraga Bel Air, Nolet Spirits, Stumptown Coffee, The Bruery, Tito's Handmade Vodka and Urban Press Winery.
California Spirit raised $130,000 for the Society’s groundbreaking research, free patient and caregiver services, and early detection and prevention education programs. Spotted: Hosts include Event Chair, Debora Wright, along with returning Honorary Chairs, Sherry Lansing, Phil Rosenthal and Bill Chait as the ACS honors actor, survivor and activist Fran Drescher. Celebrated chef and television personality Richard Blais will serve as our Host Chef, with Andrew Firestone taking the reins as our auctioneer.
