When: Monday, November 14, 2016
Hot Spot: The Metropolitan Club, NYC
Deets: On Monday, November 14, 2016 under the largest supermoon to date, the New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NYSPCC) brought together 200 benefactors and guests at the Metropolitan Club to celebrate and raise funds for its Trauma Recovery Program, which offers specialized therapy for children ages 5-18 who have experienced physical or sexual abuse, neglect, traumatic bereavement, or have witnessed family violence.
The night kicked off with wine tastings from Notorious Pink, M.S. Walker, Palette of Wines, Montcalm Wine Importers, and Baron Francois.
After cocktail hour, Chef Michael Anthony, 2015 recipient of the James Beard Foundation Award for Outstanding Chef and executive chef of Gramercy Tavern and Untitled at the Whitney, curated a beautiful four-course dinner, with select wine pairings from Tournesol and Caymus Vineyards. Dinner featured dishes from Chef Anthony's two cookbooks, The Gramercy Tavern Cookbook and V is for Vegetables (on sale now). The meal brought together the class and colors of the experience and venue and provided delightful tastes of a bright future for the children of New York.
The program was hosted by Kimberly Guilfoyle, Fox News anchor and analyst, with guest speaker Adam Rapoport, Editor in Chief of Bon Appétit magazine, and Dr. Mary L. Pulido, executive director of NYSPCC, who all spoke passionately about fighting for children's rights and giving them a new life and hope through NYSPCC's work. Lydia Fenet of Christie's Auction House conducted a reverse auction with grace and ease. Together with ticket sales, the event raised close to $600,000 from the generous supporters.
Congratulations to the NYSPCC team for the successful event, and thank you for inviting us to celebrate with you again this year.
