Deets: Actress Torrey Devitto from NBC TV’s “Chicago Med” joins Hope & Grace Initiative board members, Executive Director of National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Mary Giliberti, President of NAMI New York City Metro, Barbara Ricci, and Women’s Health magazine editor-in-chief Amy Laird for a ceremony to light the Empire State Building green, the color to bring awareness for May’s Mental Health Month.
Torrey Devitto and Amy Laird will talk about each of their respective battles with mental health wellbeing, and will ‘flip the switch’ to light the Empire State Building green as a beacon of hope to the nation and the world in honor of National Mental Health Awareness Month. From sunset on May 2nd until 2 a.m. on May 3rd the Empire State Building will be lit green to help shed light on the more than 450 million people worldwide who suffer from mild to serious mental health issues and to help breakdown the stigma barrier surrounding the issue.
The Hope & Grace Fund will provide NAMI with a $75,000 grant in order for NAMI to implement the StigmaFree initiative which will include resources and tools that will enable organizations and leaders to enact change within the workplace and communities, and will help lead conversations aimed to raise awareness with the hashtag #stigmafree #hopeandgrace on social media.
