Deets: On February 19, the Nintendo NY opened its doors with a ribbon cutting and a new look and feel. The powered-up overhaul includes an updated interior design, new Wii U and Nintendo 3DS demo units, a 15-foot gaming screen and more fun elements and surprises. In addition, a large bronze coin installed at the store entrance displays the store’s tagline: “Where everyone comes to play.”
On hand for the ribbon cutting were Scott Moffitt, Executive VP of Sales & Marketing, Nintendo of America; David Young, Assistant Manager, PR, Nintendo of America; Rick Lessley, Video President, Supply Chain Group, Nintendo of America; Doug Bowser, VP of Sales, Nintendo of America; and Charles Martinet, the Voice of Mario and friends!
When the store opens to the public at noon, there will be a series of activities, including giveaways, like exclusive Splatoon art created by the developers of the hit game (while supplies last), and appearances by costumed characters like Mario and Luigi. The store will also sell exclusive souvenirs that can only be purchased that weekend, including a limited-edition T-shirt featuring Mario or Link. Fans who want to try out some of Nintendo’s latest games are in luck, as new and upcoming Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games will be available to play.
