Honoring Cora Cahan, President of The New 42nd Street, with The New Victory Arts Award for "bringing kids to the arts and the arts to kids."
The New 42nd Street Gala raises funds to support New Victory Artistic and Education Programs, which bring extraordinary performing artists from around the world to audiences of New York City kids, families, students and educators. 40,000 school kids attend daytime performances each year through Victory Dance and the theater's School Partnerships—a program that brings students from more than 160 schools to see live performances for just $2 per ticket. Additionally, The New Victory conducts 1,300 free arts education workshops in classrooms throughout the city and, through the New Victory Usher Corps, provides paid employment to approximately 50 NYC teens each year.
