Affair: An Evening with Sarah Silverman
When: Thursday, January 7, 2016 @ 7:30PM
Hot Spot: LACMA, Los Angeles, CA
Deets: According to the New Yorker profile of comedian Sarah Silverman, she “exerts a kind of mesmeric control over an audience.” Her career includes over twenty years of charming yet pugnacious stand-up, an Emmy Award for the song “I’m F—king Matt Damon,” television specials including an HBO version of her one-woman show Sarah Silverman: Jesus is Magic, the Emmy-nominated Comedy Central series The Sarah Silverman Program and the 2010 memoir The Bedwetter: Stories of Courage, Redemption and Pee. In recent years, it’s her work as an actress that secured her a different kind of attention, garnering acclaim for roles as diverse as her no-nonsense turn in Sarah Polley’s 2011 film Take This Waltz to her role as the determined video game avatar in 2012’s Wreck-It Ralph to her extraordinary work in the starring role in 2015’s I Smile Back as a self-destructive mom coping (badly) with issues of depression and self-worth. Count on Silverman to be honest and hilarious in a conversation about her life and pursuit that includes clips from art that inspired her and clips from her own efforts.
