Kicking off MFWF’s Wine program (4 – 6 March) at new Melbourne venue Glasshouse, Festival revellers will discover modern views on food and wine matching during Acqua Panna Perfect Match. Moderated by Matt Skinner, and with a panel of long standing industry friends, presenting duos include Morgan McGlone and Patrick Sullivan with their Southern session ‘That with Chicken’.
For the wine connoisseur, Acqua Panna Global Wine Experience moderated by Nick Stock and panelled by global trail blazers Walter Speller, Matt Paul and Raffaele Mastrovincenzo, offers tastings and compelling wine discussion covering Italian varietals grown in Australia.
Glasshouse will also play host to The Best of Bordeaux, a tasting showcasing labels from twelve specialist Bordeaux producers in partnership with Langton’s, and The Boardroom Sessions, an exclusive new Festival event hosted by Australian wine authorities including Max Allen.
At the Southern end of the Yarra, Victoria’s 21 diverse wine regions, from Pyrenees to Mornington Peninsula, will stand together for a vinous celebration and sampling at City Cellar. Enjoy live music and Autumnal river views, while socialising and sipping on Victoria’s best drops on the lawns outside Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Drinkable offerings continue along the river with River Graze, including a Garden Picnic at NGV, Prosecco Road Leads to Southgate, and a weekend long cocktail party in Federation Square’s Pop-Up Patch by Eau De Vie, Little Creatures and Tommy Collins.
A diverse collection of events dreamt up by Victoria’s food and wine industry are available for tipplers spanning the full ten day program. Fly high in a classic 1940’s-era DC3 aircraft at Whisky in the Sky (5 March), get the sand between your toes at Gin Masterclass In a Beach Box (5,12,13 March) or dive down the rabbit hole at Mad Hatter’s Marsanne Party (13 March).
