Affair: UnCorked! DC

When: Saturday, November 21, 2015 @ 7:30PM

Hot Spot: National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC

Deets:  What do a Chardonnay Reserve from Charlottesville, a Pinot Noir from Oregon and a Cabernet Sauvignon from Argentina have in common? The Uncorked! DC extraordinary wines benefit for The Neediest Kids, of course! More than 200 benefactors gathered at the renowned National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington D.C. to sample celebrated wines from around the world, to include local and national brands. WTOP’s Scott Greenberg, host of “The Vine Guy,” served as sommelier during the evening’s VIP reception, offering tips and answering questions from wine enthusiasts as they sipped on decadent reds and crisp whites from more exclusive labels like Chateau de Beaucastel and Williams Selyem.

Following the VIP reception, patrons moved to the main exhibition hall to feast on delectable heavy o’dourves like truffle mac and cheese tartlets, lamb and hazelnut baklava and mini crab cakes while touring the various wine tables and tasting bottled treasures from the vineyards of France, USA, Argentina, Italy and New Zealand. Special guests for the charity event included Julie Donaldson from Comcast SportsNet, and Charrisse Jackson Jordan from The Real Housewives of Potomac. Both guests spoke of their passion for the evening’s beneficiary, The Neediest Kids, a D.C. based nonprofit that supplies underprivileged local students with academic essentials to include clothing and school uniforms, eyeglasses, school supplies, personal care items, food and transportation. Mistress of Ceremonies Julie Donaldson encouraged revelers to take note of their affluent surroundings, of the ample food readily available to everyone in attendance, a stark contrast to the thousands of area children that go without basic comforts. Sheryl Brissett Chapman, Executive Director of the National Center for Children and Families, echoed these sentiments and thanked the audience for their support of the foundation. As the elegant affair concluded with coffee, desserts, and an auction of a vintage wine package, it became clear that many of the attendees were willing to uncork their generosity too and donate to the worthy cause.
