Deets: Designer Cristina Ruales will debut her second New York Fashion Week show this coming Fall with her SS2016 Ready-to-Wear collection, “Celebrate Your Individuality” on September 14th at 1PM at the OUT Hotel (510 W. 42 St., New York) in Manhattan. Ruales will officially be part of the CFDA NYFW calendar as one of the newest designers to be added this year. Makeup to be sponsored by INGLOT Cosmetics, hair by Edward Tricomi of Warren Tricomi Salon, styling by Lauren Bensky stylist and contributing fashion editor to HERO and HEROINE and sounds by Greg Cuoco AKA Deep Wood.
Cristina Ruales Spring Collection is inspired by the clean lines, shine and metal found in architecture, along with the tech fabrics that hark back to her love for being in nature and climbing. Ruales’ “brush stroke” print represents her love for stripes in a painterly artistic way , which is an idea she will expand upon as her line evolves.
As far as structure and silhouette, Ruales keeps true to some of her soon to become “classic shapes” such as the Boy Cut Out Tank, the Triangle Dress, and Triangle Top. “My collection embodies a ‘New Sexy,’ for example using translucent cut outs, I highlight and expose the back which I find very sexy.. The pieces have an ease to them and fill you with confidence, which is ultimately what makes a person shine,” Ruales states. She will once again juxtapose the high tech fabrics alongside the natural cottons – most hems are knife cut or laser cut representing her clean lines. These lines will look effortless although when you look closely, you will see nothing is effortless in this collection – something Cristina finds crucial – a fit you can count on!
COLOR – a makeup blush called BASE, with STEEL (silver and pale grey), PETROL (deep blue) with a PRIME (stark white), of course Ruales’ much loved CITRINE (lime yellow/green) represents her love of color to evoke the vivid energy Spring gives and to serve as a lovely contrast to the muted elegant four “basics.” Her metal finish for the season is an elegant brushed silver – simply beautiful and fresh. PRINT – Ruales’ first print to show is hand-painted and evocative of the art that inspires her, hand in hand with the brands ethos – Nature vs. Architecture.
Ruales’ main message this season is “BE HAPPY – BE YOURSELF and CELEBRATE YOUR INDIVIDUALITY!” which expresses her Spring Collection’s inspiration, “If I can give confidence and help women feel empowered and sexy in a new way, then I have succeeded.” Ruales says.
