Deets: Beautycon - the leading platform for fashion, beauty, and lifestyle digital influencers and their ever-growing Gen Z and millennial fan base - returned to Pier 36 in New York City for the second year on Saturday, October 17th from 10 AM to 6 PM with Cosmopolitan and Seventeen as their exclusive media partners. Beautycon NYC festivities officially kicked off on Friday, October 16th with the Maybelline Beauty Brunch presented by StyleHaul. All invited guests in attendance received customized kits and got a first look at new Maybelline products. Additionally, the e.l.f. Cosmetics Play Beautifully™ Penthouse took place from 1 PM to 6 PM on Friday. At the Play Beautifully™ Suite, attendees were introduced to brand new e.l.f. Cosmetics products, received mini makeovers, dined on small bites and mocktails, and took pictures at the skyline selfie station.
Bethany Mota anchored the day with a keynote discussion on Saturday, October 17 moderated by Joe Zee and presented by Aéropostale. Mota showcased her Aéropostale holiday line at Beautycon NYC, the same day the collection launched in stores and online.
At #BeautyconNYC, digital influencers such as Meg DeAngelis, Baddie Winkle, and Megan Nicole (for a full list of content creators and the musical lineup, click here) came together with beauty fans to network, discussed the future of online media, and conversed with each other during panel discussions, Q&As, and meet and greets. Radio Disney's on air-personality,Brooke Taylor, emceed and broadcasted live from the Festival, while Megan Nicole served as a special Radio Disney correspondent at the event. Through Radio Disney’s broadcast, listeners were able to tune in to the Festival, where thousands of beauties had the opportunity to participate in interactive presentations, hear live musical performances, create content, shop, play games, learn about new products, and interact with over 30 of their favorite brands including: Tarte Cosmetics, Maybelline, Revlon, Essie, Garnier, Physician’s Formula, Elizabeth Arden, NYX Cosmetics (one again hosting its popular talent lounge), Ardell Lashes, Proactiv+, Ricky’s NYC, Sprinkles Cupcakes, and many more. Ultimate Beautycon fans also had the unique opportunity to purchase the Beautycon BFF membership, a yearly subscription, which includes specially curated boxes filled to the brim with the hottest beauty and fashion goodies that are sent to subscribers each season, as well as exclusive experiences offered only to BFF members. Those that sign up for the BFF membership on-site were then be able to upgrade their Meet Up opportunities to include two Meets Ups of their choice. Fans that were already subscribers to the BFF membership were allowed to enter Beautycon NYC with Platinum ticket holders two hours before the rest of the ticket holders, as well as having access to two Meet Up opportunities. Beautycon NYC musical performer JoJo provided an exclusive experience for BFF members as part of the Fall BFF Box.
Throughout the Festival, information on pop culture, trending news, fashion and beauty, favorite content creators, and important issues were exchanged and disseminated in real time via Beautycon social channels (@BeautyconOfficial) because Beautycon understands the importance and value of digital media to Gen Z and the millennial generation. A powerful new force in consumer culture, Gen Z – 80% of which is comprised of millennials – is inherently social and internet-obsessed, consuming video on-the-go and moving markets by spending an average of $400 billion in the US each year.
