Deets: The London Gala premiere of Amy, the forthcoming documentary film about the late Amy Winehouse, is to be screened live via satellite at cinemas nationwide. Fans will have the opportunity to watch an intro from the red carpet followed by the feature-length documentary itself, plus a celebration of the late singer's career featuring director Asif Kapadia and special guests. The evening will also feature exclusive, never seen before footage.
An absorbing, moving, insightful and powerful documentary from Asif Kapadia (who directed the Oscar-winning documentary Senna) that charts the amazing highs and terrible lows in the life of the wonderfully talented but terribly troubled Amy Winehouse, who died in 2011. Great use of home video, camera phones, archive footage and interviews combine to craft a mesmerising – and often very sad - film brimming with magical musical moments, offering a remarkable portrait of a wonderful talent.
