Marion Cotillard in Joan of Arc at the Stake, NYC
@nyphil |
When: Wednesday, June 10- Saturday, June 13, 2015
Hot Spot: Avery Fisher Hall, NYC
Deets: Oscar winner Marion Cotillard (La Vie en Rose, Midnight in Paris) stars in the New York Philharmonic’s can’t-miss season finale: a riveting new production of Honegger’s oratorio on the life of Joan of Arc.
The fully staged drama unfolds on a large set that extends into Avery Fisher Hall. In the heart of the action is 19-year-old Joan, telling the story of her life. Flashbacks unfold around her: her childhood friends, saints, and the king in colorful costumes — and her accusers too, dressed as circus animals.
Led by Music Director Alan Gilbert, the New York Philharmonic performing Honegger’s sweeping, cinematic score makes this staging all the more powerful. Join us for this unforgettable production — which Marion Cotillard calls “one of my greatest experiences as an actress.”
