Deets: ArtHamptons, the longest running art fair of the Hamptons, opened its 8th edition last night in its new location on private estate grounds in Bridgehampton. With nearly 3,000 VIP attendees, ArtHamptons is positioned as the first major cultural event of the summer and an exciting enhancement to visitors’ 4th of July weekend plans. The remainder of the weekend shows no signs of slowing down, with the fair’s ticketed events selling out in far in advance.
Kicking off with an exclusive First Look event to benefit Guild Hall and Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation, hosted by Maria and Kenneth Fishel, a number of prominent members of the community were spotted in attendance, including Executive Director of Guild Hall Ruth Appelhof and Jill and Bobby Zarin. Executive Director of ArtHamptons Rick Friedman recognized Samuel Waxman, M.D. in a short ceremony, presenting the doctor with $10,000 in recognition of his achievements as Founder and CEO of the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation.
Guests explored the 40,000 sq. ft. tented pavilion showcasing 67 international exhibitors presenting Post-War Modern and contemporary art as they enjoyed hor d’oeuvres by Cheffe Colette of The Inn Spot on the Bay, complimentary wine by Sequoia Grove, and cocktails by Tito’s Vodka. On-site, Tesla Motors representatives showcased the 2015 Model S P85D.
Exhibitors reported high optimism for the weekend with numerous connections made and a number of sales confirmed. Local galleries reported success, with karyn mannix contemporary of Easthampton selling pieces by British street artist, Dom, Sean Sullivan and T.Wat., and Quogue Gallery selling a large Janice Mehlman photograph. Center Space of New York, NY sold several editions by Alex G. Cao; LIFE Gallery of New York, NY sold a Marwane Pallas piece; and Ai Bo Galleryof Rye, NY sold a Marlene Rose cast glass piece and Janet Sherman’s box wall sculptures. The McLoughlin Gallery of San Francisco, CA sold a large Doug Thielscher sculpture; Christopher Martin Gallery of Aspen, CO sold Christopher H. Martin limited edition works to New York collectors; and Thomas Paul Fine Art of Woodland Hills, CA reported holds on works by Helen Frankenthaler, Joan Mitchell and Elaine De Kooning.

At the event attendees can look forward to enjoying hor d'oeuvres and specialty cocktails by the Executive chef of The Inn Spot on the Bay, Cheffe Colette; as well as an open wine bar. Friday, July 3
Brunch with Jackson Pollock, 12:00-1:3- p.m. Hosted by HAMPTONS Magazine this fundraiser will benefit the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center and celebrate Robyn Lea’s new book Dinner with Jackson Pollock: Recipes, Art + Nature. Attendees will be served Cheffe Colette’s exact replicas of the food Pollock served to his party guests in the 1950’s. Tickets and an advance RSVP are required. Undervalued Sectors of the Art Market, 2:30-4:00 p.m. In collaboration withAppraisers Association of America, New York Observer presents a panel discussion on financial opportunities in the art market. New York Observer culture editor Alexandra Peers will moderate a panel discussion which will include appraisers and experts on the market. The panel discussion will be held in the VIP Lounge and be open to Black Card and VIP ticket holders only.
2015 Arts Patrons of the Year, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Award presentation to honor Susan & Louis K. Meisel and talk moderated by Terri Sulton, Director of the Parrish Art Museum. This event and its following reception will be held in the VIP lounge and is open to all ticket holders.
Meet The Artists Reception, 6:00-8:00 p.m. All ticket holders will be able to join in the VIP Lounge to celebrate the exhibiting artists. The event will bring the artists who hail from around the globe together for a lively reception. A graffiti art performance will be done by Dom, a British street artist. There will also be a silent auction of a Bob Taylor photograph from which the proceeds will go to the Southampton Cultural Center.

The ARTrageous Fourth @ ArtHamptons,1:00-8:00 p.m. All ticket holders are invited to join the “Made in America” themed Fourth of July celebration. Handcrafted spirits and wine as well as gourmet Texas barbecue (available for purchase) by Cheffe Colette will be served at the outdoor Art Cafe.
Sunday, July 5
2015 Lifetime Achievement Award, 12:00-1:00 p.m. Award ceremony for 15-year Executive Director of Guild Hall, Ruth S. Appelhoff. THere will be a reception to follow and will take place in the VIP Lounge. Open to all ticket holders.
Planning Around Your Art Collection as an Asset, 2:00-3:00 p.m. Panel discussion presented by US Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management. Panelists include: Ramsay Slugg, Managing Director, Wealth Strategies Advisor and author of the book, Handbook of Practical Planning for Art Collectors and Their Advisors;Vincent Keaveny, SVP Private Client Advisor; and Laura E.
