When: Monday, August 31, 2015- Sunday, September 13, 2015

Hot Spot: Flushing Meadows, NYC

Deets: No longer will tennis fans have to choose between work and watching the men’s singles final. This year, the US Open is returning to the traditional 14-day schedule for 2015, which means more great tennis in less time, with a more competitive, action-packed first week and a true Finals Weekend that will crown the women’s singles champion on Saturday and the men’s champion on Sunday.

What’s more, this year you will have a chance to watch every moment of America’s biggest tennis event. ESPN will take over as the exclusive domestic broadcast partner of the US Open, covering the entire tournament on its family of networks, from first ball up to the last ball hit.

The tournament has been scheduled for 15 days each of the last two years, with a Sunday afternoon women’s final and a Monday afternoon men’s final to accommodate the players’ desire for a day of rest between the singles semifinals and finals. The new schedule will retain that day of rest, and the first round will now be completed over two days rather than three to fit all play into the traditional tennis fortnight.

“Providing proper rest for the players is an essential component of our planning and scheduling,” said US Open Tournament Director David Brewer. “We want all the players to be healthy, rested and competing at their very best. That is fairest to them and also results in the best possible tennis, which is certainly something all our fans want to see.”

Under the new schedule, the men and women will remain on the same course – with one round completed every two days – from the start of the tournament on Monday, Aug. 31, through the completion of the quarterfinals on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

The women’s semifinals will be played in prime time on Thursday, Sept. 10, followed by the men’s semifinals (and mixed doubles final) on Friday, Sept. 11. The tournament will wrap up with the women’s singles final and men's doubles final Saturday afternoon, Sept. 12, and the men’s singles final and women's doubles final Sunday afternoon, Sept. 13.

In this first full year of the US Open’s partnership with ESPN, fans will be able to follow the action on TV on ESPN and ESPN2, as well as via daylong live streaming of all TV courts on ESPN3 and through the Watch ESPN app – a “digital grounds pass” – with full coverage from start to finish.
