Deets: Thursday evening, March 12th, Love Heals, the Alison Gertz Foundation for AIDS Education raised over $450,000 at its gala event at The Four Seasons Restaurant in Manhattan. All proceeds from the evening directly support Love Heals’ efforts to protect the next generation of New Yorkers from HIV.

Hal Rubenstein, Editor-at-Large at InStyle, Eric Villency, CEO of Villency Design Group, and Molly and Eliza Howard were all honored for their support of and dedication to Love Heals and its mission to promote HIV/AIDS awareness and education for young people in New York City and beyond.

During the program, the organization announced the implementation of a new program, Leadership Empowerment and Awareness Program (LEAP) for Boys, which will train a new generation of community educators and activists New York City communities with the highest incidence and prevalence of HIV/AIDS. The program was created in response to an alarming statistic that confirmed a 132% increase in the HIV infection rate among young men who had sex with men between 2001 and 2011. In the coming years Love Heals is committed to reversing this trend as it has done in its work with young women of color.
