Deets: A Hollywood Walk of Art: The Awards Shows, is the first free, self-guided, walkable Hollywood art tour. For the event, ForYourArt is partnering with select local galleries, nonprofits, and restaurants to celebrate this burgeoning arts district in Hollywood.
ForYourArt is highlighting galleries and spaces along Highland Ave., La Brea Blvd. and Santa Monica Blvd. including: Blackman Cruz, Diane Rosenstein Fine Arts, Gavlak Gallery, Hannah Hoffman Gallery, JF Chen, Kohn Gallery, LAND, LA><ART, Redling Fine Art, Regen Projects, Steve Turner, Joan Scheckel Filmmaking Labs, and Various Small Fires.
The event will feature special activities at partner spaces, including Performing_NON_Conformity®, a site specific performance with Marcel Alcalå curated by Chivas Clem and co-presented by LA><ART. The one-hour free performance, held in the parking lot behind JF Chen at the N.E. corner of Highland Ave. and Romaine St. and beginning at 4:48 p.m., will be a multi-media improvised happening with a number of clowns and mimes working in conjunction with an original score. Alcalå's performances function as a kind of DIY foil to the industrial entertainment complex, with costumed performers enacting a series of gestures in a silent vernacular language; a metacritical take on the spectacle of Hollywood.
The Women’s Center for Creative Work will set up a lounge in the back garden at Free City, where they will create a collaborative project where visitors imagine their utopic free city. Their “Site Specific Dispatch #2,” a interview and printed broadsheet with Free City Founder Nina Garduno, will also be available alongside drinks and treats.
KCHUNG will be broadcasting live all day.
Partnering restaurants include Donut Time, where ForYourArt will host a donut party and coffee from 11am to 12pm and Mud Hen Tavern, who will be offering a sparkling wine cocktail to anyone who comes in for lunch during the art walk.
