Deets: The Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Gala and also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. It marks the grand opening of the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit. Each year's event celebrates the theme of that year's Costume Institute exhibition, and the exhibition sets the tone for the formal dress of the night since guest are expected to choose their fashion to match the theme of the exhibit. Each year the event also has honorary celebrity event day chairpersons.

In September of 2014, it was announced that the subject of the 2015 exhibit and Gala will be “Chinese Whispers: Tales of the East in Art, Film, and Fashion.” Silas Chou will host the gala on May 4, with Jennifer Lawrence, Gong Li, Marissa Mayer, Wendi Murdoch, and Anna Wintour serving as co-chairs.

This year, selfies and any social media will not be allowed inside.

Hint For The Average Socialite: Tickets to this social event of the year are highly coveted and close to impossible to obtain (the event has recently been limited to 350 guests). You can keep an eye out for charity auctions if you are willing to spend quite a bit to attend.
