There will be something for everyone; young and old will come together for a wild time at the 26th Wildfoods Festival. All senses will be captivated--sight, smell, sound, taste and feel. There will be demonstrations from famous chefs, interactive seminars from friends of the festival, competitions galore and of course a great line up on stage.
Come along and sample everything from Huhu grubs and Grasshoppers, to Mussels and Mountain Oysters, all washed down with a nice Monteiths, Tohu or Stallion Shot.
This year’s headlining entertainers are The Topp Twins. You will be able to see Lynda and Jools on stage and around the Festival throughout the day including some extra special activities. With a well-known following both in New Zealand and internationally, and an eclectic range of stage characters and acts, the twins are sure to be a crowd pleaser. Performance credits include the feature length documentary ‘Untouchable Girls’, primetime TV Series ‘Do Not Adjust Your Twinset’ and several NZ Film and TV Awards. Both keen outdoors women, The Topp Twins are a great addition to the Festival as we celebrate all things wild.
Tunes of I are one of the Festivals newest acts, hailing from Wellington they bring a unique flavour of dub, soul and funk. The six-piece ensemble includes traditional guitars, vocals, drums and bass, combined with a horns section consisting of saxophone and trumpet. Off the back of a 25 show summer tour, Tunes of I are bound to impress at this year’s Festival.
Other new acts include Dunedin-based hip-hop artist, Arcee and Southland rock band, Cheap Thrills. Local act, Katie Thompson will be returning this year along with Christchurch covers band, Smashbox. Other Hokitika locals set to entertain include Ric Hetherington, Blues Brigade, Kokatahi Band and the Hokitika District Country Music Club. Kiwi Comedy will provide some additional comic and circus entertainment throughout the day.
