Hours of Operation (winter season):
Thursday – Saturday 5pm – 9pm

Deets: Internationally acclaimed artist Bruce Munro will debut his immersive public art installation Field of Light, spanning more than six-acres from 38th to 41st Street on First Avenue, just south of the United Nations, at the proposed mixed-use Freedom Plaza being developed by the Soloviev Group.

Field of Light at Freedom Plaza will span more than six-acres from 38th to 41st Street east of First Avenue and will feature an array of 17,000 lowlight, fiber-optic stemmed spheres. Guests will be fully immersed in the installation as they are invited to walk the winding path through the ethereal painted landscape framed by the city’s iconic skyline and the East River waterfront.

Opening to the public this Winter, Field of Light at Freedom Plaza will remain in place for 12 months., Field of Light will transform this six-acre site into a welcoming art installation for members of the community and all New Yorkers, as well as present meaningful opportunities for engagement and educational programming.

Made possible by the Soloviev Foundation, Field of Light will honor New York City as a beacon of freedom and hope around the world. Inspired by the human connection to the stars, the essential elements of our universe, the Freedom Plaza installation will feature an array of 17,000 lowlight, fiber-optic stemmed spheres, which will illuminate with a slow, subtle change of hue. The effect will be that of a muted and ethereal painted landscape. Existing at the nexus of art, technology and nature, Field of Light will create a contemplative moment in this totally unique waterfront open space.

London-born Munro is globally recognized for large-scale light-based artworks inspired by his lifelong study of natural light and curiosity about shared human experiences.

Deets: Gordon Parks. Jean-Michel Basquiat. Lorna Simpson. Kehinde Wiley. Nina Chanel Abney. These names loom large in the past and present of art—as do many others in the collection of musical and cultural icons Swizz Beatz (Kasseem Dean) and Alicia Keys. Expansive in their collecting habits, the Deans, both born and raised in New York, champion a philosophy of “artists supporting artists.” The first major exhibition of the Dean Collection, Giants showcases a focused selection from the couple’s world-class holdings. The Brooklyn Museum’s presentation spotlights works by Black diasporic artists, part of our ongoing efforts to expand the art-historical narrative.

“Giants” refers to several aspects of the Dean Collection: the renown of legendary artists, the impact of canon-expanding contemporary artists, and the monumental works by such creators as Derrick Adams, Arthur Jafa, and Meleko Mokgosi. Immense pieces—including the largest ever by Mokgosi—are paired with standouts such as Parks’s seminal photographs, Wiley’s revolutionary portraits, and Esther Mahlangu’s globe-bridging canvases.

The term also evokes the strength of the bonds between the Deans and the artists they support, and among the artists themselves. Along with examining these links and legacies, the exhibition will encourage “giant conversations” inspired by the works on view—critiquing society and celebrating Blackness.

Deets: The Paley Center for Media announced its latest blockbuster exhibit, The Masked Singer: Behind the Mask! Spotlighting the Costumes That Captivated America. Based on FOX’s hit show, the exhibit will run at The Paley Museum located at 25 West 52 Street starting Wednesday, March 13 through Sunday, May 19.

Throughout its eleven seasons, FOX’s dynamic singing competition series The Masked Singer has remained a captivating television staple and a hit with audiences of all ages. The series’ central concept, disguising its celebrity contestants from head to toe in elaborate costume creations that shield their identities, continues to capture the imagination of television audiences everywhere while generating a virtual social media frenzy of speculation with each new episode.

Framed by a stunning selection of the series' breathtaking costumes, including fan-favorites Miss Monster, Flamingo, Chameleon and Gazelle, video highlights, artifacts, photography, and family arts & crafts, The Masked Singer: Behind the Mask! is a vibrant celebration of the innovative and addictive television favorite hosted by Nick Cannon, alongside panelists Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke, and new panelist Rita Ora.  The series airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on FOX.

The costumes on display, which helped the show win two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Costume Design, are a vibrant synthesis of fashion, fantasy, and imaginative costume artistry. Each is a fantastical creation, extraordinary in its intricacy, originality, and scale.

The exhibit also highlights the production's painstaking efforts to ensure the contestants' identities are kept secret both on stage and off, including the custom visors and hoodies emblazoned with a "Don't Talk to Me" warning, worn by each contestant. Together they enable the series' trademark secrecy and its enduring TV magic to prevail.

About BRIDGERTON SEASON 3
From Shondaland and new showrunner, Jess Brownell, Bridgerton is back for its third season and finds Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) has finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after hearing his disparaging words about her last season. She has, however, decided it’s time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he’s disheartened to realize that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder. Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly. Complicating matters for Penelope is her rift with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place, while Penelope’s growing presence in the ton makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.

Bridgerton Season 3 Part 1 releases globally on Netflix on May 16th.

Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 releases globally on Netflix on June 13th.
